Education and Career
He was born on June 11, 1983 in the village of. Kovsharovka of the Kharkov region. Intellectual sports took a great interest in early childhood due to his father, who loved chess and collected a large chess checker library. I signed up for the school section for checkers and after 1-2 training was already in their power. The analysis of the parties, the decision of the combinations fixed Yuri’s hobby, but the love came after reading the book by Y. Barsky and B. Gertsenzon “Adventures on the Draftboard.” Playing checkers-100 began in 13 years after the festival in Kharkov “Friendship-96”, they conquered it with the depth of strategic thinking. Already in 14-16 years, Jura became world champion on a small board among cadets (1997, Melitopol) and won the title of world junior champion (1998), and also became a master of sports of international class and national master of sports.
In 2000 he graduated from the secondary school № 2 in Kupyansk with a gold medal “For special achievements in studies”.
In the same year he entered the Computer Engineering and Management Department at the KhTURE with a degree in System Programming. While studying at the university twice confirmed the title of the world champion among juniors (2001,2002) and became European champion in this age group (2001). In the adult world championships he made his debut in São Paulo (2002) and won two bronze medals, was awarded the title of International Grandmaster.
In 2004 he became the world champion in Brazilian drafts. Ukrainian Champion in international drafts (2003,2004), bronze (2003) and silver (2005), prize-winner of Ukrainian championships in drafts-64, the Ukrainian Cup winner in 2003.
In 2004 he received a bachelor’s degree in the field of computerized systems, automation and management. In 2005, with distinction, he defended the diploma project on the theme: “Model of network interaction of interactive game programs”. Successfully graduated from KHNURE and qualified as a system programmer.
Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine (2005), European Champion 2005 in blitz for international drafts, multiple champion and prize winner of Ukraine, winner of open championships of the Republic of Bashkortostan in international drafts, prize-winner of international tournaments in the Czech Republic, France (Cannes), Spain (Salou) and the Netherlands . Champion of Holland 2006, 2008 in the club of Van Stigt Thans, vice-champion of Russia in the club “Mashinostroitel” (Bashkiria) and vice-champion of Poland in the club “Tor”. World champion 2016 (Turkey) on international checkers-100 in a fast program.
