Against all odds, shelling and destruction, our University continues to fight for a clean world, for the preservation of everything around us. An integral part of this movement towards victory is the collection of waste, in particular, waste paper, plastic caps, used batteries.
As you know, finger and watch batteries, mobile phone batteries and the like make up a very small percentage of waste, but are among the ‘record holders’ in terms of pollution. Other hazards include the presence of mercury, lithium, cadmium, zinc, lead, other heavy metals and alkalis in batteries. Therefore, these batteries should never be disposed of in ordinary garbage cans, they need to be recycled separately. Containers for them are available in most supermarkets, petrol stations, near the ASC, etc.).
We also continue to collect used batteries at our university, with containers for them at the university entrance (next to the container for lids). The coordinator of the campaign is the NURE Archive, Mykhailo Wolfson.
In November 2024, we handed over a new portion of 20 kg for recycling. In November 2023, more than 80 kg were handed over for recycling in 2021-2023.
We are waiting for those who care to bring what is no longer needed (or even harmful) – but is a valuable source of raw materials for recycling, an important contribution to the fight for the environment!
