20.06.2023

From June 12 to 15, 2023, meetings of the COST CA19122 EUGAIN working groups and the 2nd International EUGAIN Summer Training School were held in Rome (Italy) at the Sapienza Università di Roma: Research Recharge, where the employees of the V.V. Popovskyy ICE Department: Professor Oleksandra Yeremenko and Associate Professor Amal Mersni took an active part.

The COST CA19122 EUGAIN Working Group Meetings, held on June 12-13, 2023, provided a platform for leading experts, researchers and professionals to address critical issues and explore opportunities related to the European Network for Gender Balance in Informatics (EUGAIN). The event took place at the famous University of Rome La Sapienza, in particular, at the Department of Informatics, Automation and Management (Dipartimento di Ingegneria informatica, automatica e gestionale – DIAG). Representatives of the V.V. Popovskyy ICE Department took an active part in this two-day meeting, sharing valuable ideas and facilitating the establishment of cooperation within the framework of the second working group – WG2: From Bachelor/Master Studies to Ph.D., whose main goals are to update and develop a set of measures to promote the education of more female students in graduate school.

After the successful meeting of the working group, the representatives of the department continued their work by participating in the Second International EUGAIN Summer School, which took place on June 14-15, 2023. This summer school was focused on empowering young researchers and professionals and acquiring the skills necessary to promote gender balance and inclusivity in the field of computer science. Through interactive workshops, lectures by renowned experts, and hands-on activities, participants gained valuable insights into cutting-edge research and practical approaches in this area.

Also during the summer school, the women of the department presented a poster for public discussion, sharing their experience and contributing to the enrichment of discussions on gender equality and diversity in computer science. Their active participation emphasized their commitment to creating an inclusive environment and promoting research in this area. It should be noted that the events organized under the auspices of COST CA19122 EUGAIN aim to promote positive changes in the field of computer science by encouraging cooperation, knowledge sharing, and empowerment of people with different backgrounds. For its part, the V.V. Popovskyy ICE Department of NURE, focusing on interdisciplinary cooperation and advanced technologies, strives to address societal challenges and contribute to the development of the digital future.
