NURE invites women scientists to participate in the competition for the international award L’Oreal-UNESCO

Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics invites women scientists in the field of physical, mathematical and computer sciences to participate in the competition for the international award L’Oreal-UNESCO 2023. Applications are submitted only electronically through registration on the online platform. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2022.

The prize is awarded to 5 nominees from each of the 5 geographical regions of UNESCO, namely: Africa and the Arab countries; Asia and Oceania; Europe; Latin America; North America. Each of the 5 winners will receive an award of 100 thousand euros.

Candidates for the award are required to:
– have the recognition of the international scientific community for their scientific achievements;
– take an active part in scientific research;
– work for at least 5 years in the field of physical, mathematical and computer sciences.

Criteria for selection of participants:
– outstanding contribution to the overall development of science;
– the impact of the candidate’s work on the current state of development of the relevant field of science (number of publications, citations, participation in conferences, the availability of patents, etc.);
– recognition of the candidate as a colleague in the relevant discipline through publications;
– recognition of the candidate’s commitment to educational activities (teaching in higher education institutions, the availability of graduate students, etc.) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The right to nominate for the award have:
– heads of universities or research institutions;
– members of academies of sciences or other national scientific institutions;
– heads of departments;
– professors;
– winners of the L’Oreal-UNESCO Prize for Women Scientists in recent years.

Self-nomination and nomination of family members are not allowed. Nomination of scientific teams is also not allowed.
Nominations for the award will be considered only if the submission contains:
– a brief justification for the selection of a candidate for the award (200-400 words) indicating her contribution to the development of science in her country;
– summary (maximum 40 words) of key technical or professional achievements of the candidate;
– detailed resume (CV) (maximum 2-3 pages) with links to any scientific social networks and/or candidate’s websites (e.g. ResearchGate, ORCID);
– list of all publications of the candidate;
– a list of the most significant patents of the candidate, starting with the last;
– a list of the 10 most important publications together with short (up to 150 words) summaries, which substantiate the importance of the publication, information on the number of links to each publication except auto-links and the impact factor of each journal;
– from three to five letters of recommendation from prominent scientists who have not worked and do not work in the same institutions with the candidates.
