Since 2002, the university staff have planted trees around the university every year. This tradition was founded by the former rector Mykhaylo Bondarenko.
In 2016, 5 viburnum bushes were planted near the memorial plaque to the Hero of the Heavenly Hundred Yevgen Kotlyar, and in 2019, in front of the university stadium, 7 seedlings of decorative trees.
This movement correlates with the Kharkiv program of greening its territory, because green spaces in cities purify the air and reduce the temperature. Cities and villages are ecosystems that can hardly be called natural, so planting trees within their limits does not threaten wildlife, but at the same time brings great benefits to the city. This variant of the ecological movement is the most efficient and safest.
