Holodomor Remembrance Day: light a candle, remember

29.11.2023

Over the past centuries, Ukrainians have repeatedly experienced genocide. The mass famines of 1921-1923, 1932-1933, and 1946-1947 were among the most terrible and horrific pages of our history.

They were not only artificially created by the Soviet authorities, but also hushed up for a long time. Therefore, we, the descendants of the generations who survived that horror, had to reveal the truth about the Holodomors to the world, collect facts, evidence, and testimonies. Just like now, information is being collected every day about Russian war crimes, which are also genocide – aimed at destroying everything Ukrainian and all Ukrainians.

Our common historical memory becomes all the more important. Bitter and tragic, it unites us and once again reminds us of Ukrainian resilience and the will to freedom and independence.

Today at 4pm, let’s light a candle and join the national minute of silence! Let us remember the truth about the Holodomor, about the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims of the inhuman cruelty of the communist regime.
