Workshop 24.01.2024

On January 24, 2024, a regular seminar on the implementation of NURE tasks to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals was held.

AGENDA: Implementation of the system key performance indicators (KPIs) NURE departments in 2024.

HEARD:

1. NURE Vice-Rector Vasyl Rossikhin reported on the allocation of funds for additional funding of the University’s departments in 2024 according to the system of key performance indicators (KPIs). He noted that despite the war, the difficult financial situation, and the severe consequences of the January 2 shelling, we continue to implement KPIs.

The distribution of funds according to the KPI system remains an effective innovative tool for encouraging and rewarding a specific result. This is a unique achievement of NURE as a lead Ukrainian university to ensure sustainable development, achieve SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth and promote the image of the University. The distribution of finances according to the system of key performance indicators (KPIs) significantly affects the efficiency of the university departments. The KPI system is adapted to the specific conditions and goals of the University. The use of KPIs to allocate additional resources encourages teachers and researchers to achieve specific goals:

– indicators of the applicant pool are related to the department’s ability to attract students;

– specific KPIs reflect the main tasks of the departments – quality of education, scientific achievements, publications, and special fund resources. Teachers who achieve these goals receive additional funds;

– a balanced approach that takes into account various aspects of the departments’ activities allows to stimulate different aspects of work and support comprehensive development;

– KPI system is transparent and objective, the criteria are clear, measurable and based on objective data, which contributes to the fair distribution of resources.

The use of the KPI system for the allocation of funds is a useful tool for motivating teachers and researchers to achieve high results.

The amounts in 2024 will be distributed, as in the previous year, depending on the indicators of the scale of the department’s educational activities (contingent of applicants at all levels of higher education), the publication activity of research and teaching staff (scientometric indicators from the Scopus and WoS), the amount of funding for the department’s research activities and the amount of income to the special fund.

2. Valentyn Filatov, CIST’s Scientific Director, reported on the list of key performance indicators, the status of information provision by the responsible departments, the inspection by the departments, and the results of the calculation of the departments’ KPIs for 2024. He also presented the dynamics of the departments compared to 2023. Valentyn Filatov proposed to approve the initial data and KPIs for calculating the amount of funding for the departments in 2024.

RESOLVED:

To propose the Academic Council to approve NURE departments key performance indicators (KPIs) for 2024.
