Workshop 20.02.2023

On February 20, 2023, a regular meeting of the ongoing seminar on the implementation of NURE tasks to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals was held.

The topic of the seminar: “Implementation of the system of key performance indicators (KPI) of the departments in 2023”.

One issue was considered on the agenda: Approval of key performance indicators for calculating the amount of funding for departments in 2023.

THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE CONSIDERED:

1. Acting Rector of NURE Igor Ruban on the allocation of funds for additional funding of the University’s departments in 2023 according to the system of key performance indicators (KPІ).

The allocation of funds according to the KPI system remains an effective innovative tool for encouraging and rewarding a specific result. This is a unique experience of NURE as a leading Ukrainian university to ensure sustainable development, achieve SDG 8 and promote the image of the university. The distribution of finances according to the system of key performance indicators (KPI) affects the efficiency of the university departments in the following ways:

1) Stimulating performance. Key performance indicators (KPI) allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of university departments because they represent specific, clearly defined performance metrics. If the allocation of funds depends on these metrics, it stimulates the departments to achieve higher results in accordance with the established KPI.

2) Increasing staff motivation. Departments that achieve high results in terms of key indicators can receive a larger share of funding, which increases staff motivation to achieve success, leads to increased scientific productivity, improves the quality of research, and promotes innovation and the implementation of new ideas.

3) Ensuring the rational use of resources. Allocation of funds by KPI helps university departments to make rational use of resources, as they are forced to pay attention to those areas that have the greatest impact on performance.

4) Improving the quality of education. Quality education is the main mission of the university. Increased attention to the educational process and research leads to an increase in enrollment. The distribution of finances by KPI helps to improve the quality of learning and teaching because the departments depend on the results of their activities in this area.

The amounts in 2023 will be distributed, as in the previous year, depending on the indicators of the scale of the department’s educational activity (contingent of applicants at all levels of higher education), the publication activity of research and teaching staff (scientometric indicators from Scopus and WoS), the amount of funding for the department’s research activities and the amount of income to the special fund.

2. Valentyn FILATOV, Scientific Director of the CIST, on the list of key performance indicators, the state of information provision by the relevant departments, the inspection by the departments and the results of the calculation of the KPI of the departments for 2023.

Valentyn Filatov proposed to approve the initial data and KPI for calculating the amount of funding for the departments in 2023.

RESOLVED:

Propose to the Academic Council to approve the key performance indicators (KPI) of the departments for 2023.
