Smoke-free policy

Smoke-free policy
May 31 is World No Tobacco Day. Global Tobacco Free is part of the UN Global and International Days. In 2021, this day will be held under the slogan “Time to give up tobacco.” Its goal is to draw attention to the problems of 8 million smokers in Ukraine who need help to quit smoking. In 2006, Ukraine acceded to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
In Ukraine, 85,000 deaths each year are related to smoking, and more than 14,000 to exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke. To reduce the possibility of harmful effects of smoke, it is necessary to increase the number of public places where smoking will be completely banned.
Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics fully supports the policy of smoking ban on the territory of the educational institution and takes specific measures aimed at overcoming tobacco dependence, protecting people, including young people, from tobacco advertising and marketing, informing about smoking risks, disseminating proven evidence, providing assistance to those who want to quit smoking and create a tobacco-free generation.
