What is information radio technology? In general, it is a set of technical means designed to receive, process, and transmit information or energy using radio waves. That is, the technologies that surround us – mobile and satellite communications, digital terrestrial and satellite television, radio navigation, radar, wireless access to the Internet, etc.
The educational program “Information Radio Technologies”, which is part of the G5 Electronics, Electronic Communications, Instrumentation and Radio Engineering speciality, is focused on forming a specialist from a student who is able to develop and design microwave devices, as well as devices, systems and complexes of a wide range of purposes, using modern technologies of electronics, electronic communications, instrument engineering and radio engineering, computer microprocessor, microcontroller technology, measuring equipment and modern software for automated design systems of radio equipment.
Applicants acquire knowledge and practical skills in solving specialized tasks of development, design, production, installation, operation, maintenance, repair and modernization of radio engineering systems and communication facilities, the ability to solve practical problems in professional activities aimed at creating conditions for the exchange of information at a distance, its processing and storage. This contributes to the social stability and mobility of graduates in the labour market.

The future specialist must have a wide range of professional knowledge. Therefore, among the main disciplines taught in this educational program, the following can be noted:
− programming,
− information theory and coding,
− fundamentals of network and multimedia technologies,
− information and measuring systems,
− digital signal processing,
− analogue and digital circuitry,
− receiving and transmitting devices,
− electrodynamics and radiating systems,
− microwave devices and antennas,
− fundamentals of computer modelling and design,
− fundamentals of the theory of radio-electronic systems,
− digital systems with radio access,
− etc.
In the process of training students, a lot of attention is paid to studying all aspects of using computer modelling methods and modern automated design tools. In addition, students can independently choose to study many disciplines of professional and practical training. For example:
− WEB technologies,
− basics of Internet technologies for the development of search engines,
− design of devices on microcontrollers and FPGAs. MATLAB and VHDL,
− systems and networks of radio and television broadcasting,
− artificial intelligence for information technologies,
− intelligent information systems,
− design of SMART systems,
− power supply of radio-electronic equipment,
− information security and protection of information systems,
− etc.

Therefore, after training a bachelor in the educational program “Information Radio Technologies”, he must have the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of telecommunications and radio engineering, which is characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions. Accordingly, the main competencies that a bachelor in this educational program will possess are as follows:
− The ability to understand the essence and significance of information in the development of a modern information society.
− The ability to solve standard tasks of professional activity on the basis of information and bibliographic culture with the use of information and communication technologies and taking into account the basic requirements of information security.
− The ability to use basic methods of processing and storing information.
− The ability to perform computer modelling of devices, systems and processes using universal application software packages.
− The ability to use regulatory and legal documentation related to information and telecommunication networks, telecommunication and radio engineering systems to solve professional tasks.
− Ability to conduct instrumental measurements in information and telecommunication networks, telecommunication and radio engineering systems.
− Ability to monitor compliance with and ensure environmental safety
− Ability to promote the implementation of promising technologies and standards.
− Ability to accept and master new equipment in accordance with current regulations.
− Ability to install, adjust, configure, regulate, test, test and commission telecommunications and radio engineering structures, facilities and equipment.
− Ability to prepare regulatory documentation (instructions) for operational and technical maintenance of information and telecommunication networks, telecommunication and radio engineering systems, as well as test programs.
− Ability to perform work on managing the load flows of information and telecommunication networks.
− Ability to organize and implement occupational health and safety measures during operation, maintenance of information and communication network equipment, telecommunication and radio engineering systems.
− Ability to study scientific and technical information and domestic and foreign experience on the subject of investment (or other) projects of telecommunications and radio engineering facilities.
− Ability to perform calculations in the process of designing information and telecommunication network equipment, telecommunication and radio engineering systems, in accordance with the technical task using both standard and software tools for design automation.
− Ability in the process of technical design in the conditions of a design bureau (department, specialized laboratory), using technical equipment, to develop microwave path components using modern computer programs and study their characteristics based on the theory of microwave transmission lines, designs and principles of operation of typical microwave path elements and their scattering matrices.
− The ability to select certain subsystems for the development of a digital communication system, to build subsystems that are at least close to optimal in terms of the quality of the system as a whole, to calculate the quality parameters of subsystems and the system as a whole; to independently perform calculations of various radio engineering devices that are components of modern communication systems; to use computing equipment and modern software tools for modelling and configuring these devices, etc. Therefore, after training a bachelor in the educational program “Information Radio Technologies”, he must have the ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of telecommunications and radio engineering, which is characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions. The creation of modern wireless broadband multi-service transport networks based on Internet protocols, the development of subscriber access services, the implementation and optimization of telecommunications infrastructure, the development of computer networks and mobile telephone networks through the mutual penetration of information, multimedia, telecommunications and computer technologies and services are the objects of professional activity of future graduates of the educational program “Information Radio Technologies”. A graduate can expect to find employment in:
− telecommunications companies (CISCO, Ukrtelecom, etc.),
− mobile communication companies (Kyivstar, Vodafone, Lifecell, etc.),
− radio and defence enterprises, enterprises of Ukrainian concerns (Proton, Ukroboronprom, Antonov, etc.),
− foreign companies producing radio electronic devices, systems and microcircuits (Samsung, Huawei, Qualcomm, Epcos, ESA, etc.),
− as well as almost anywhere where radio equipment and systems are present – from car service stations and Internet providers to research institutes.
