Educational Program Orthopedic Technology and Engineering

Educational Program Orthopedic Technology and Engineering

The educational program of specialization focuses on the training of specialists in the development, application, engineering support of means and technologies aimed at the restoration of lost organs, parts of organs and their functions of the musculoskeletal system in order to improve the quality of life of people with physical disabilities and limitations.

Students are studying modern aspects of the creation and use of living organisms (cells, tissues, etc.) and artificial implants to improve and correct the functions of the musculoskeletal system, developing therapeutic and diagnostic technologies and tools on this basis; the possibility of applying the principles of engineering mechanics and biomaterial studies to study and simulate the structure and function of the locomotor apparatus, the design of artificial prosthetics and orthoses and their parts, as well as the study of mechanics in sport to improve sports performance.

Skills and competencies of the graduate of the educational program Orthopedic technology and engineering:
1. To design, develop and accompany orthopedic and technical means for the restoration of the health of the disabled, development of the necessary motor skills and skills;
2. To apply the principles of engineering biomechanics and biomaterial studies for research and modeling of the structure and function of the locomotor apparatus and the design of artificial prostheses and their parts, the development of methods and technologies for the replacement or restoration of lost sensory and motor abilities;
3. To develop and implement technologies aimed at the restoration of lost functions of the musculoskeletal system in order to improve the quality of life of people with physical disabilities and limitations.

Graduate in the field of training Orthopedic technology and engineering can work in rehab medicine (medical devices, apparatus and diagnostics, therapy, propaedeutics and rehabilitation, processing of data, signals and images, modeling of organs and lost functions of the musculoskeletal system) and rehabilitation engineering (means of care, simulators, artificial prostheses and orthoses) with a place of work in prevention centers, centers of rehabilitation and sports medicine.
