Educational Program Information Systems and Technologies

The main focus of the Information Systems and Technology degree program is the development and practical use of virtualisation, distributed and cloud computing, Internet of Things, Big Data (storage), IT project management, DevOps and DevSecOps methodologies and approaches, etc.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAM:

Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics participates in the European Tempus and Erasmus+ programs, covering key aspects of design, support and development of information systems and technologies, ensuring their cyber security.

From 2014 to 2018 V.V. Popovskyy ICE Department was a participant of the project and coordinator of the Ukrainian side of the ENGENSEC consortium of the European Tempus program, organised by Blackinge University of Technology (VTN, Karlskrona, Sweden). Besides, the department participates in similar projects with other European universities. The most active students and postgraduates regularly participate in international exchange programs at universities in Spain (Jaen, University of Jaen), Portugal (University of Coimbra), France (University of Limoges), Slovakia (Žilina University) and Poland (Pomeranian Academy, Słupsk).

THE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES THAT A GRADUATE OF SPECIALITY 126 “INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY” WILL POSSESS:

  • Development of application software using modern programming languages;
  • Web server design and development;
  • Database Administration (Oracle, Ms SQL Server, MySql, NoSql, MongoDB);
  • System administration in UNIX and MS Windows Server;
  • Development of technologies for creating and using “smart” devices based on the Internet of Things;
  • Development and support of information systems and networks protection technologies.

TRAINING AND LABORATORY BASE:

V.V. Popovskyy ICE Department has deployed the CISCO Networking Academy, NURE IT Academy Training Centre, Switching and Routing, Network Security and Reliability; Cybersecurity and Cloud Technologies; Radio Monitoring and Information Protection and others (a total of 15 labs). In 2018, this department commissioned a cyber polygon for cloud, network and Web security research, purchased by the European Union as part of the European Tempus programme – next generation cyber security training.
