<h3><strong>Research activities</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">His scientific work deals with the theory of electromagnetic wave diffraction, the theory of antenna systems, microwave generators, the development of radio systems and millimeter-range radio telescopes.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He developed the concept of using the operator of reflection of semi-infinite structures in the theory of wave diffraction on multilayer periodic structures, created a number of fundamentally new quasi-optical elements and systems of millimeter and submillimeter ranges.</p>

<h3><strong>Research activities</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Scientific works concern the physics of interstellar and intergalactic media, atomic spectroscopy, the creation of methods and apparatus for highly sensitive radio astronomy observations. Using the decameter band radio telescope, UTR-2 first discovered the radiation of excited carbon atoms in outer space and developed a model of the physical state of the interstellar medium.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In 1972 he defended his diploma as a radio engineering engineer and was sent to work in the research laboratory of the radio engineering faculty. At the same time as working in the laboratory, he studied at the graduate school of the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Since 1982, he worked as an assistant, and then as an assistant professor at the Department of REPS.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 1983 he defended his thesis on the specialty &#8220;Antenna-feeder devices and microwave technology.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 1984, she was awarded the degree of candidate of technical sciences.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 1994 he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 2016 he defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty 05.12.13 &#8211; radio engineering devices and telecommunications. The topic of the dissertation is the development of theory and analytical methods to increase the efficiency of designing linear passive devices for integrated microwave circuits.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 2017, the academic title of professor was awarded.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">From 2018 to the present &#8211; Head of the Department of Radioelectronic Devices and Systems.</p>

<h3><strong>Research activities</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Prof. V.N. Kartashov is the head of the world famous scientific school for remote sensing of the atmosphere by acoustic and electromagnetic waves. The main scientific results of V.N. Kartashov. and his students &#8211; the theory of vector sounding radioacoustic signals was created, the theoretical foundations for the optimization and adaptation of signal processing devices for atmospheric sounding systems were developed.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Recently, under the leadership of Kartashov VM the actual direction necessary for increase of defense capability of the country on detection of unmanned aerial vehicles on radar, acoustic and optical signals is developed. A number of state budget and self-supporting works were commissioned by industrial enterprises and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, to achieve results at the world level.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Social activities</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Participated in the development of higher education standard on specialty <a href="https://mon.gov.ua/storage/app/media/vishcha-osvita/zatverdzeni%20standarty/12/21/171-elektronika-bakalavr-VO-zatv.stand.01.11.pdf"><strong>171 &#8220;Electronics&#8221;</strong></a> for undergraduate (bachelor) level of higher education.</p>

<h3><strong>International activity / participation in international projects</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Develops international cooperation with foreign universities: with the Autonomous University of Baja California (Mexico), with the Institute of Radio Wave Propagation in Qingdao (China). Under the leadership of V.N. Kartashov employees of foreign universities undergo scientific training at KNURE: Head of the Department of Applied Physics of the Autonomous University of the State of Baja California (Mexico), Ph.D. Sergienko A.Yu. (2018) postgraduate student of the Faculty of Engineering, Kahramanmaras University (Turkey) Burak Oztush (2018) and others.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He actively participates in the conduct and organization of a number of international scientific conferences, a member of their program committees. Organizer and head of sections of prestigious scientific conferences: IECON 2019 &#8211; 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, Lisbon, Portugal, 2019; 29 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics 2020, Delft, the Nederland.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Published independently and in the sponsorship of 270 scientific works, the middle 40 patents for wine boats, 10 monographs (of which 6 are English language works in foreign records). <p>1977-1989 – engineer, a junior researcher, a researcher of the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics (IRE) of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (now – IRE of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine).</p>

<p>1991 – senior lecturer of the Department of Higher Mathematics of Kharkiv Institute of Radio Electronics, KhIRE, (now – Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, NURE).</p>

<p>Science interests: mathematical physics, mathematical modeling and computational methods, electromagnetic theory, antenna theory.</p>
<p>Science successes: mathematical approaches and methods for solving problems of monochromatic wave diffraction on unclosed perfectly conducting and impedance cone surfaces both, methods of mathematical modeling impulse excitation of complex conical structures, the excitation and wave diffraction theory for inhomogenous conical structures of special types,</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He was one of the performers of state budget research projects: “Development of analytical and numerical methods for studying electromagnetic phenomena in active media” (order of the Rector No. 2kn dated 06.01.2001), “Investigation of the formation of pulsed fields by excitement of broadband antenna systems” (Joint Protocol for the MES number 2 dated October 30, 2001).</p>

<h3><strong>International activity / participation in international projects</strong></h3>
<p>2000-2002- executor of the joint project of research and technologies “Ukraine-Greece” with the University of Athens, Athens, Greece: “Formation of high-power pulse electromagnetic fields through the excitation of ultra wide-band antennas by relativistic electron beams”. Contract by the Resolution of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 312 of 13.04.01.</p>
<p>1999-2004 – member of the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Electromagnetism (the University of Athens, Athens, Greece).</p>
