Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics has become a partner in the new international project TwinTech – “Transforming Ukraine with Digital Twin Technology: Path to a Green and Smart Future”, supported under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme.

NURE will be represented in the project by the V. V. Popovsky Department of Infocommunication Engineering. For the University, this marks another important step towards expanding international cooperation, modernising the educational environment and introducing technologies that will shape the future of industry, engineering and telecommunications.

The project brings together 15 universities, research institutions, businesses, public organisations and technology partners from Ukraine, Slovenia, Lithuania, Germany and Sweden. The State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” serves as the project coordinator in Ukraine.

The main objective of TwinTech is to create a modern educational and innovation environment at Ukrainian universities for studying and applying Digital Twin technologies. Digital twins make it possible to build virtual representations of real-world objects, processes and systems, analyse their operation, simulate different scenarios and identify effective solutions before they are implemented in a physical environment.

The project will include:

the development and implementation of new interdisciplinary courses in Digital Twin technologies;

the integration of Digital Twin technologies into the education of specialists in robotics, automation, information systems and telecommunications;

the establishment of modern Digital Twin Labs, where student teams will be able to design, develop, test and validate digital twins;

the launch of the TWINTECH Academy to provide professional development opportunities for business and industry representatives;

the creation of an international network of developers, researchers, universities, companies and Digital Twin technology users;

support for Ukraine’s digital, green and technological transformation.

For the V. V. Popovsky Department of Infocommunication Engineering, participation in TwinTech is not merely an opportunity to contribute to a major European project. It is an opportunity to create education that stays ahead of technological change, advance modern infocommunication technologies and prepare professionals capable of working with digital models of real industrial, engineering and telecommunication systems.

NURE expresses its sincere gratitude to the project coordinator in Ukraine, the State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute”, for its leadership, trust, strategic vision and efforts in bringing together a strong international consortium. We also thank all partners from Ukraine and the European Union for their professionalism, perseverance and shared commitment to ensuring that Ukrainian education and research remain an integral part of the European technological community.

Today, Ukrainian universities are not merely preserving and developing education under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. They are building international teams, creating future-oriented technologies and laying the intellectual foundations for Ukraine’s recovery.

Three years of ambitious work lie ahead, including new educational programmes, laboratories, research activities, international cooperation and technological solutions.

TwinTech is beginning – and NURE is among those transforming Ukraine’s future today.

The event was organised by the Rohanska Community and the Rohanskyi House of Culture, which created a modern interactive platform where young people could discover promising professions, digital technologies and new opportunities for professional development.

During the meeting, school students had an opportunity to try the role of an AI designer and explore the capabilities of contemporary artificial intelligence technologies in practice. The participants were introduced to tools for creating AI bots and generating images, three-dimensional models, videos and music. They saw how artificial intelligence can transform creative concepts into complete digital projects.

The practical part of the event attracted particular interest. Each participant was able to see how several carefully formulated prompts could be transformed into a unique image, animation or musical composition.

The lively discussion, genuine enthusiasm and numerous questions from the students once again demonstrated that careers in the creative digital industry, including design, multimedia technologies and artificial intelligence, are highly attractive to today’s young people.

Career guidance initiatives of this kind help school students not only learn about current academic and professional fields but also discover practical applications of the technologies that are already shaping the future of the digital industry.

NURE expresses its sincere gratitude to the organisers for the invitation, warm welcome and opportunity to contribute to an event that helps young people make informed decisions about their future careers.

We believe that, for many participants, the “Battle of Professions” became the first step on an inspiring journey into the world of modern technologies, digital creativity and artificial intelligence.

Researchers from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at NURE are conducting research within the international project Deep Intelligent Optical and Radio Communication Networks – DIOR, implemented with the support of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme.

The DIOR project combines research in artificial intelligence, optical communications and radio communication networks. Its objective is to develop new methods and intelligent technologies for creating high-speed, reliable, secure and energy-efficient communication networks.

The University’s modern computing complex has become an important tool for the research conducted by the NURE team and has already been used for more than nine months to support educational and scientific activities. The server infrastructure was created at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the framework of the joint project with the World Bank, Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project (UIHERP).

The computing capacity of the complex enables NURE researchers to model the operation of optical and radio communication networks, generate and process large datasets, train artificial intelligence models and conduct extensive series of numerical experiments.

By using modern server equipment, researchers can simulate hundreds of millions of network events within a reasonable period of time, test scientific hypotheses, compare the efficiency of different algorithms and study network operation under various load scenarios. This has already enabled the DIOR project team to obtain practical results in applying artificial intelligence methods to the management of next-generation communication networks.

“The integration of artificial intelligence mechanisms into network infrastructure will make it possible to build next-generation networks. We are developing a new type of diffusion model whose application to network management will increase data transmission speeds, significantly reduce energy consumption and improve network reliability. Thanks to the modern equipment, we can simulate hundreds of millions of network events during each study and obtain results within a reasonable period of time,” said Oleksandr Shevchenko, Professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence at NURE.

The results obtained demonstrate that the development of NURE’s own computing infrastructure directly expands the capabilities of the University’s research teams. The modern complex makes it possible to perform resource-intensive computer simulations, process large datasets and conduct research requiring substantial computing power.

NURE’s participation in the DIOR project contributes to the University’s integration into the European Research Area, the development of international scientific cooperation and the practical application of artificial intelligence technologies to create communication networks of the future.

The Deep Intelligent Optical and Radio Communication Networks – DIOR project is implemented under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange programme within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 framework programme.

NURE’s computing infrastructure was developed at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the framework of the joint project with the World Bank, Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project (UIHERP).
The post NURE Computing Complex Helps Build Intelligent Communication Networks of the Future first appeared on NURE.
