According to the decision of the Academic Council of KHIRE of December 27th, 1991 and order of Rector № 01 of January 2nd, 1992 the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Students (PFFS) was created which started preparing foreign citizens for their further education in Russian, Ukrainian in engineering, medical (pharmaceutical), economic and humanitarian higher education institutions of Ukraine and CIS countries.
In 2009 it was re-organized in the Faculty of training for foreign citizens.
In 1992 the Faculty consisted of the Dean’s Office and the Department of the Russian Language.
Levykin Viktor Makarovich, Head of Computer and Information Technologies Institute of KHNURE, Professor, Doctor of Technical Science was appointed as the first Dean. He made a significant personal contribution to the process of formation and development of the Faculty, enrollment of students, improvement of the educational process, conditions of life for foreign students of the university.
From September 3rd, 1999 to July 7th, 2009 Nemchenko Vladimir Petrovich, Professor, Candidate of Technical Science was Dean of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens.
From July 7th, 2009 Omarov Murad Anverovich, professor, doctor of Technical Science became Dean of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens. After re-organization of the faculty he became a Director of the Training Center for Foreign Citizens. From February 28th, 2012- 2015

From 2015 – Dean, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor Tsapko Tamara Petrovna During the 25 years of work over 3000 foreign students from 40 countries of the world successfully finished the pre-university education.
Having graduated from the Faculty, our students successfully continued their studies both in KhNURE and other higher education institutions of Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Vinnytsia and other cities of Ukraine and CIS countries.
Our Faculty is proud of our students who continued their graduate and postgraduate studies at our University, successfully defended theses for Candidate’s Degree and were awarded Degrees of Candidates of Technical Science
Department of Language Training
Over the years, the department developed the tradition of teaching foreign students and students a variety of commonly used forms of extracurricular work, as well as various activities for the socio-psychological adaptation of trainees and students.
All areas of educational and methodical work provided relevant literature: manuals, guidelines and instructions for practical work and independent work.
The priority directions of scientific activities of the department include the development of topical issues of theory and methodology of teaching Russian and Ukrainian as foreign languages (the study of the structure, content and organization of the learning process of foreign citizens).
Department of Natural Sciences
The Department provides teaching of such subjects for foreign students: Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Biology, Chemistry, Drawing, Country Studies, Economic Geography and Essentials of Economics.
Students can apply for courses in such divisions: Engineering, Medicine and Biology, Economics and Humanities.
Since 2010 for students of 1-2 courses also Higher Mathematics, Physics, Programming, Algorithmization, Technical Drawing, Computer Graphics.
Teachers of the Department lead extensive scientific and methodological work. All courses are provided with necessary courseware created by the teachers of the Department. The teachers of the Department developed a new unique technique of teaching classes in multi-language groups of foreign students. Textbooks in Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Biology, Chemistry, Drawing and
Country Studies were written.
Besides research and methodological work the teachers of the Department are engaged in educational work held among foreign students.
Department of Ukrainian Studies
Department of Ukrainian Studies is based on preparation of 1 st and 2 nd year students of all specialities both full-time and distance education of socio-humanitarian field of study.
The Department provides teaching of such subjects for foreign students as History of Ukraine, History of Ukrainian Culture, Political and Economic History of Foreign countries (for foreign students of EC Department), Ukrainian Language (specialization), Modern Ukrainian literary language, rhetoric, speech standards, terminology (for post-graduate students).
Department’s Stuff develops and publishes tutorials, methodological recommendations including distance education system LERSUS.
Department’s main objectives are improvement of teaching and educational organization, lecturing and practice by means of multimedia technology, orientation on student’s constructive and individual improvement.
Science and International activities
Training Faculty for Foreign Citizens’ stuff publishes their articles in scientific journals and takes part in international scientific conferences. Moreover they are authors of textbooks and manuals approved by Ministry of Education of Ukraine. Three Candidates of Sciences were supervised by department. Department is carrying out International cooperation with of Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turkey, Azerbaijan universities. High quality of education is ensured by great aspiration to technological culture, international cooperation with high schools, introduction of up-to- date approaches of teaching and stuff competence.
