Born January 27, 1940 in Kharkiv.


In 1957 he left school in Kharkiv with a silver medal, in 1962 he graduated from Kharkiv Mining Institute with honours degree in speciality – Mining Automatics.

In 1973 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Science (Technology) on “Study of electrochemiluminescence and development of new electronic instruments and devices on its basis” and in 1990 continuing research in this area he defended his doctoral thesis in speciality “Physical Electronics”.

Work experience

From 1962 to 1965 after graduation he worked as an engineer, senior engineer in the Lugansk branch of “Dniprouhlemash” Institute, where he was introducing new mining equipment into the mines of Donbass.

Academic work

Since 1965 he worked in Kharkiv Technical University of Radio Electronics as senior engineer, instructor, assistant professor at the Technical Electronics Department. From 1975 to 1979 – associate professor of the Ultra-High Frequency Physics Department. From 1975 to 1980 – Dean of the School of Electronics of Kharkiv Institute of Radio Electronics, since 1979 – Head of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering, and since 1996 – Head of the Department of Biomedical Electronic Devices and Systems.

He started teaching in 1966. He taught such courses: “Application of Electronic Devices”, “Electronic and Semiconductor Devices”, “Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering”, “Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Electronics” and others. He developed and set new courses: “Optoelectronics”, “Physical Foundations of Functional Electronics”, took an active part in creating the first in Ukraine speciality “Electronic Medical Equipment”.Tutorship: 2 Doctors and 10 Candidates of Science.

Scientific research

He is the founder and head of the only scientific school in the CIS countries for the study of new physical phenomena – electrochemiluminescence (ECL) – to develop instruments and devices for different purposes (from medical to microelectronic). ECL Group has existed since 1968, it has developed the theoretical foundations of ECL, methods of conversion, storage, processing and transmitting of information, and ECL analyzers of various liquids and surfaces of solid conductive bodies. He has over 40 patents and inventions in the field of liquid-phase electronics and biomedical engineering.
Full Member of the Academy of Applied Radio Electronics, Deputy Chairman of the scientific and technical committee in “Biomedical Engineering”, Deputy Chairman of two specialized councils on candidate and doctoral dissertations (KhNURE).

He has more than 280 scientific and methodological works, including 5 monographs, 6 textbooks in electrical engineering and electronics.
