About department

The bachelors program includes

– theoretical study (228 ECTS credits) for subjects of classroom training (lectures, seminars, laboratories and practical studies) and independent work of students. The volume of theoretical training which provides basic qualification in Telecommunications is 206 ECTS credits. The block of disciplines which provides advanced training in Telecommunication Systems and Networks is 22 ECTS credits;
– preparation of term papers by specialization (4 ECTS credits);
– undergoing industrial practical training within basic qualification (9 ECTS credits);
– final Bachelor’s Graduation Thesis (9 ECTS credits).
Credits are awarded to a student in case of the successful (see evaluation criteria in p. 4.4) assessment of the education course (written / oral tests or exams), positive evaluation of a term paper, positive evaluation of an industrial practical training report. A final state attestation includes defence of a Bachelor’s Thesis.

As a results students get

  • basic knowledge of fundamental sections of mathematics and physics in the volume necessary for mastering a mathematical apparatus of basics of the system theory and theory of electric communications, understanding processes occurring during transfer of electric signals along communication lines;
  • basic knowledge in applied computer technologies and modern telecommunication technologies; skills of using special software and working in telecommunication systems and networks, the ability to program work of communication objects;
  • modern knowledge of information division, distribution, protection during transfer in telecommunication systems and networks;
  • knowledge of modern telecommunication technologies (with the multichannel system theory, design and construction principles of fragments and elements of telecommunication systems and networks, new generation switching systems, etc.).
  • the ability to work with information and measuring devices and automated diagnostic control and measuring complexes;
  • the ability to work with specifications and technical documentation for maintenance of telecommunication systems and networks;
  • the ability to work with computer, its software and hardware (data carriers, databases, etc.);
  • the ability to supervise and diagnose the condition of hardware and software of telecommunication systems and networks, radio and TV networks, transport and radio relay transfer systems, switching systems, end user devices, radio relay and satellite systems;
  • the ability to analyze results for measurement of efficiency, quality and performance parameters within QoS requirements to objects of telecommunication systems and networks, transfer systems, switching systems, etc.;
  • the ability to carry out preventive maintenance and servicing of telecommunication systems and networks, transfer systems, switching systems, etc.;
  • the ability to mount, adjust and provide technical support for line cable equipment structures in local, district, national and global area networks such as PDH and SDH, cable and wireless systems;
  • the ability to take part in designing new (modernizing existing) telecommunication, information and transport networks, digital switching systems, transfer systems, communication lines and other telecommunication devices;
  • taking quick decisions ensuring continuous work of stationary and linear equipment of telecommunication systems and networks according to statutory regulatory documents and rules for technical operation;
  • taking orders from clients for providing infocommunicational services according to SLA (QoS) requirements with initialization, setting and introducing of resources and service testing for preparation to their full realization;
  • meeting requirements of directory regulatory documents and QoS standards (ISO) of the quality management system of consumer services.
