First coordination meeting of ENGENSEC project partners


On March 24-26 Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), contractor of the EU-financed project, hosted all partners of the ENGENSEC project on the first coordination meeting in Karlskrona, Sweden. Representatives from 12 universities from 6 countries participated during the meeting.

On the first day Anders Hederstierna, Vice-chancellor at BTH, welcomed all project participants and wished for productive working days for the ENGENSEC project.  Anders Carlsson, Project Manager ENGENSEC, held a short presentation about the project; how it started and the plans and wished results of the project. 

After that all participants made short general presentations of their universities including existing experiences and capacities relevant to the project topic. There was also a guided tour of BTH and guests got an opportunity to visit classrooms and see the equipment in laboratories, but also learn about the study conditions and student environment at BTH. After lunch BTH representatives held presentations about European rules and guidelines – Bologna and CDIO, and shared their experience in Double Diploma cooperation. The first day ended with information about financial rules from the Finance Office. 

On the second day all participants were divided into groups for group discussions. There were 5 groups, which were composed depending on the participants’ competences; Joint Framework (Group leader: Dariusz Caban), Survey to collect information about existing courses (Group leader: Tomasz Surmacz), Remote Cloud Lab (Group leader: Leo Truksans), Survey to collect and compile skills and knowledge demand of future employers (Group leader: Dmitry Andrushko) and Monitoring of group activities (Group leader: Anders Carlsson). 

All groups continued their work on the third (last) day and the coordination meeting ended with presentations of the results of all groups.  New project tasks for the future work were fixed and dates for a new coordination meeting were set. The next meeting is planned to be at Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The objective for next meeting is to finalize rules of a Joint Master program and decide on courses to be included in the program. 

During the meeting in Karlskrona a journalist from BlekingeLänsTidning (BLT), one of the local newspapers, interviewed the regional managers of the ENGENSEC project and talked to other participants about the project objectives.
