Today quality of the products is the basis of competitiveness. Producers wishing to gain the trust of consumers should have certificates and other documents confirming the quality and safety of products and services. In addition, some products cannot enter the market without the need to conformity assessment to technical reglaments. Moreover, organizations conducting certification of quality systems and products, testing and calibration laboratories must convincingly prove their competence. Accreditation of these organizations increases the credibility of the documents issued by them by assessing their competence based on generally accepted criteria.
In product quality improvement, the main role is played by integrated product quality management based on international management standards ISO 9001.
Quality management and certification are based on standardization. Standardization is a regulatory way of management. Its impact on the object is carried out by establishing norms and rules, drawn up in the form of regulatory documents that are legally binding.
The need of standardization and certification activities is enshrined in the laws of Ukraine, which regulate a consumer rights protection, metrology and metrological activity, standardization, conformity assessment of products and services, safety of products and market supervision.
Graduates of the program “Quality, Standardization and Certification”, have the following competencies:
– the ability to develop, research, implement and maintain in organizations of all activities and all forms of ownership quality management systems covering all organization processes involving all its employees in continuous improvement of quality and aimed at achieving long-term success and stability of the organization;
– the ability to develop, research and ensure the functioning of standardization and conformity assessment systems;
– the ability to research and develop complex applied problems in the field of standardization, certification and quality management.
Competences obtained allows graduates of the program to work in quality departments of enterprises, conformity assessment bodies, metrological departments of enterprises, calibration and testing laboratories, national bodies of metrology, of standardization, of accreditation, bodies of metrological and market supervision, the customs.
