Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe. It is a middle-income country which since attaining independence in 1991 has made progress in reforming its economic and social systems. With a highly educated labour force, a wealth of natural resources, a unique geographic location and a quite developed industrial base, Ukraine is working towards translating its resources and potential into a competitive advantage in various sectors of the economy.

The climate in Ukraine is determined by its geographical position.Ukraine’s territory lies in the temperate belt. In general, the country’s climate is temperately continental, being subtropical only on the southern coast of the Crimea.
The warmest month is July, the coldest one is January. The temperatures vary predominantly from the north to the south, in the Ukrainian Carpathians — from the north-west to the south-east. The lowest temperature of January and February is -7… -8°C(on the plains of Crimea —0°C, on it’s southern shore — up to +3… +4°C). The highest average July temperature is +17… +19°C(north and north-west) and +22… +23°C(south and south-east). In the Carpathians it can go down to +13… +14°C, and to +16°C in the Crimean Mountains.

The national currency of Ukraine is Hryvnia, UAH (the official exchange rate of Hryvnia against foreign currencies). The most widespread foreign currencies inUkraine are US dollar and Euro. You can exchange foreign currency in banks, currency exchange offices, or at airports where the currency exchange rate is the same as in other places.
